We Still Need Your Help – Open Your Home, Change a Life: Host an International Student!
Dear GCS Family,
It’s hard to believe that we are almost to the final quarter of our 2024-2025 school year. What an incredible journey it has been! Just a couple of years ago, we faced uncertainty about the future of our international program due to the challenges in our world. But God, in His unwavering faithfulness, reminded us that He is always at work, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and transformation. This year, we have been blessed with 15 international students representing 8 different countries—a beautiful tapestry of cultures that reflects the heart of the gospel.
As we marvel at how God is using this program to build bridges and share His love, we recognize that He continues to grow this ministry. And this is where we need your help! I am already receiving high school applications from students in Germany, Spain, China, Nigeria, and Brazil. Some of these students will join us for just one year, while others hope to stay through graduation. They come eager to experience life in America, participate in the vibrant community of an American high school, and share their unique gifts in the arts, sports, and language.
These students are not only seeking to grow academically but also relationally and spiritually. They long to perfect their English, immerse themselves in our culture, and share their rich traditions with us. One of the most impactful ways we can partner in this mission is by opening our homes to them. Hosting an international student is more than providing food, lodging, and transportation—it’s an opportunity to share your life and the love of Jesus in a deeply personal and meaningful way.
Many of these students can offer their host families a monthly stipend to help cover expenses, but the true reward comes from answering the call to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19) without ever leaving your home. Hosting is a ministry, a chance to welcome the nations into your living room and to model Christ’s love through hospitality and community.
If you feel God stirring your heart to learn more about hosting an international student, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. It would be a joy to share more about how you can be part of this ministry and the eternal impact it can have on both your family and these students.
With gratitude and hope,
Amanda Knight
International Program Coordinator
