Trades Tour at Gaston College
GCS alumni, Eric Hardin, and GCS students for a tour. He is a welding instructor at Gaston College.
There is a growing trend among students today to enter the trades. The demand is high and the pay is good. Most often, through apprenticeships and industries, college education and training are being paid for and the student receives a paycheck at the same time.
A group of 10 juniors and seniors visited Gaston College to check all that is offered through their program. They received information about the Apprenticeship 321 program and visited the facilities for HVAC, Welding, the Electrical program, automotive, Sports/Media broadcasting, the Cyber Center for Cyber Security, and the computer-integrated engineering department.
Upcoming visits include:
- Apprenticeship 2000 Program at BLUM Industries
- Morris Jenkins HVAC and Plumbing Services to discuss their heat/air/electrical/plumbing training programs
