Outstanding Dancer award
Journey Lockhart, a 4th grader here at Gaston Christian School, attended the NYCDA (New York City Dance Alliance) Scholarship program convention last weekend. The NYCDA scholarship program travels around the US visiting 23 cities yearly training and searching for elite dancers. Dancers train in several genres of dance over the weekend and are required to audition in both ballet and jazz. In each city, two female dancers and one male dancer will be recognized with a NYCDA Regional Outstanding Dancer Award. This presentation includes a year-long NYCDA Regional scholarship and a NYCDA 2021 National Season Finale Scholarship. Journey received this Outstanding Dancer award out of 200 dancers her age and will represent NYCDA Orlando until January 2022. Journey will be traveling to Georgia this weekend to train with NUVO and audition for a Breakout Artist scholarship. Way to go Journey!
