Despite the intensive focus on COVID-19 in our culture and by our media, the rest of life continues.  We continue to witness major family events like weddings, funerals, and the birth of children. The stressors of jobs, or the lack thereof, parenting, and non-COVID illnesses continue. Both the mountains and valleys of life are still very present with us.

    For many weeks now, our high school faculty has felt the absence of one of our science teachers, Amanda Roach.  Mrs. Roach is also a young wife and mother and began battling a rare form of sarcoma this summer.  She is on an extended medical leave from teaching.

    Mrs. Roach will begin chemotherapy next week and we have been praying persistently for her.  We covet your prayers as well.  In addition to praying, our high school community would like to find a way to rally around her and support her family financially.  We will begin a t-shirt sale fundraiser for her family very soon.  All proceeds from the sales of the t-shirts will go to her family and we’d love to have participation from as many of our high school families as possible.  You can participate by visiting https://gastonchristian.org/roachstrong

We pray with anticipation for Mrs. Roach’s healing and for her return to us sometime this school year. And we pray for our GCS families who we know are facing many life stressors in addition to COVID-19.  Our God is faithful and His peace steadies us even in the most difficult of life circumstances.
