Position: Operations support

Location: GASTON CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Reports To: Grounds Coordinator

Status: NON-EXEMPT – PAID MONTHLY

 

Grounds:

  • Support campus grounds as needed:
      1. Daily morning detailing each buildings front, sidewalks and campus trash pickup
      2. Grounds and field upkeep
      3. Maintaining all grounds equipment and vehicles
        • Help maintain equipment maintenance schedule
      4. Mowing,   
        • Detailing
        • Edging
        • Blowing
      5. Irrigation
        • Support Grounds Coordinator with all irrigation lines and control boxes
        • Winterize and protect all equipment as needed
      6. Aerating
      7. Mulching
      8. Planting beds
      9. Tree and shrub pruning
      10. Fertilizing
      11. Insecticide
  • Athletic fields and Courts:
      1. Help with all fields/courts seasonally, including off-season
      2. Mowing 
        • Detailing
        • Edging
        • Blowing
      3. Aerating
      4. Irrigation
      5. Fertilizing
      6. Insecticide
      7. Top dressing
      8. Over-seeding
  • General upkeep and preparation for home games:
    1. Help with grooming, setup and lining fields
    2. Scoreboards and field lighting
    3. Irrigation and equipment 

 

MAINTENANCE:

  • Building maintenance support:
  1. Buildings, concession stands and sheds
  2. Outside athletic facilities and general grounds
  3. Complete building maintenance support on:
  • HVAC systems
  • Lighting
  • Plumbing systems
  • General routine building maintenance

  • Facility support:
  1. Review white board for facility needs
  2. Setup area requested; with screen, chairs, platforms, tarps and risers
  3. Tear down and store equipment in a timely fashion
  4. Responsible for chapel setup and teardown weekly and as needed.
  5. Maintain a clean and working environment inside school buildings as assigned
  6. Respond to any spills or other cleaning crises
  7. Communicate with Coordinatorwith any conflicts 

  • Other:
  1. Able and willing to work overtime as needed
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  3. Flexibility to coordinate multiple tasks with multiple deadlines
  4. Ability to take initiative, not waiting to be told what, how and when to complete a non-assigned task
  5. Not wasting time by excessive communication or unnecessary time spent in the office

    • No inappropriate language or off color discussion / jokes
    • All concerns must follow chain of command, taken to Director before discussing with anyone other than Director

Physical Requirements:

  1. Standing and walking is required for the majority of an 8 hour day .  Must be able to stand, walk, talk and hear for 6-8 hours per day. One must use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and/or arms for 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and smell for less than 6-8 hours per day. Walking occurs on vinyl, tile, linoleum, carpeted floors, grass, artificial turf, track surface, buses, trails, camp settings, and other surfaces as needed.
  2. Must be able to lift or push equipment that weighs up to 50 lbs. Regular lifting of ladders, tables, chairs, grounds equipment etc is required. Full manual dexterity of both upper extremities is required. One must be able to bend to touch the floor to remove environmental hazards. Squatting or kneeling is required when operating equipment and performing aspects of grounds care.
  1. One’s vision should include close, distant, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Vision is required within normal limits (glasses or contacts permitted) for monitoring and operating equipment and vehicles. One must have normal hearing (aids permitted) in order to monitor and operate equipment and vehicles.
  1. Must have stamina to work outdoors for up to 8 hours per day.
