Interested in hosting an international student next year?
Dear GCS family,
It’s so hard to believe that the 2022-2023 school year is coming to an end. What an exciting year it has been! Just a couple of years ago, we were worried that the international program was going to end due to the changes in our world. But our God is faithful. As He so often does, he used many of the things that we saw as challenges as opportunities for growth and change. We’ve been able to bring in multiple short-term students from different countries, and even participate in our very first educational exchange abroad. In years past, GCS hosted around 20, long-term, international students every year from primarily one country. This year, we may only have 7 long-term, international students, but 5 different countries on 3 different continents are represented. What a beautiful picture of the gospel!
That being said God continues to grow our program, and this is where we need your help! I am currently reviewing applications of students from Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, China, Nigeria, and Costa Rica. Most of these students will only be attending GCS for one year and some simply for a semester. These students are wanting to learn more about our lives here in America and at an American high school. They are wanting to share their talents in the arts, sports, and language. They are hoping to perfect their English, learn more about our culture, and share their culture with us. One of the greatest and most rewarding ways to do this is through hosting an international student. We are in need of GCS families who are willing to share their homes, lives, and the love of Jesus with our international students. Most of these students will be able to provide their host families with a stipend each month to help cover the cost of food, lodging, and transportation.
Hosting an International student is an extremely rewarding experience. It is a way to answer the call of “going to the nations” without leaving your home.
