GCS Bible Studies offered in the new Student Life Center

Aug 17, 2023

Dear Gaston Christian family,

This fall we will be initiating a few opportunities for the Gaston Christian community. We would love for you to pray about being part of these new initiatives.

Dads and Granddads:  We will be facilitating a Men’s Bible study, every Thursday, beginning September 7th at 6:30 AM.  The plan is to conclude each study by 7:30 AM.  We will be going through a book on King David written by Chuck Swindoll.  We are hoping to have 100-150 dads, granddads, and friends of the school joining us. Each study we will make brief announcements and then break into groups of 6-8 people.  There will be a facilitator to guide the discussion and each of you are encouraged to be part of this new initiative.  If you are interested in being part of the Bible Study, please submit your information and payment with this link https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/PwTgkoZrNcTlRPvjf0ednQ. The price of the book is $10.00. If you have any questions please email Lindsay Lockett (llockett@gastonchristian.org) so that we can order sufficient books for everyone.  The price of the book is $10.00.

Here are some quotes from men that have been part of this study over the past year:

  • I have listened to Chuck Swindoll on the radio for years. I enjoy reading and discussing his book on David, “the man after God’s own heart.” even more!  However, the entire process literally comes alive at our Thursday AM  sessions. It is gratifying to read the book and corresponding sections in the Bible. It is ever more illuminating to meet with other Christian men to pray, discuss, at times to differ, but mostly come together to share my faith with other Godly men. I never leave our sessions without being uplifted.  Please come see for yourself. MZ
  • The Bible has the true and powerful words of life in its pages. It changes you from the man you stumbled into to the man you are made to be. We read it and study it to be changed together. TG
  • As we look at David‘s life, a man after God’s own heart, no matter how strong our faith is, we all have faults and failures, we are all born in the flesh. God’s promise to us that he will never leave us nor forsake us is shown in David’s life. In our own lives as we strive each day to be more like Christ we still have our own faults and failures but because of God‘s love, grace, mercy and faithfulness for us his arms are always open wide to take us back in. The Lord says that he is no respecter of persons he cares and loves us all and extends his grace to everyone to be called a child of God. So to conclude my couple of sentences I say that to have studied the life of David it showed me through all things God will help us to be who he has called us to be.  DD
  • Do you hunger to know God more? Would you like to better understand His Word … His guidance to all people on how to live according to His plan and to daily follow Christ?  Come and learn and grow and be encouraged with other brothers in Christ. God knows you, He loves you, and He has a plan for your life! Get plugged in today!  MH

Our Women’s Ministry Director, Julie Denham, will be offering a Women’s Bible Study entitled Rachel and Leah: What Two Sisters Teach Us about Combating Comparison by Nicki Koziarz. This study will provide a short video for the participants that will correlate with the book. The video will be provided to each participant to view as their schedule allows and the book will be discussed during the in-person Bible studies. The cost of the book is $10. Mrs. Denahm is hoping to provide two in-person Bible studies.  Every Tuesday at 1:30 beginning September 5th and every Thursday at 6:30 pm beginning September 7th.  Please prayerfully consider joining one of the studies as well as inviting friends and family. The SLC will be open to our GCS families each day from 6:30-10:30 AM.  After that, we will need to pivot to lunch responsibilities. Our hope for this facility is that it will be a gathering place for people to meet for coffee and enjoy a scone, breakfast biscuit, or smoothie as you pray together or participate in a study.

Thank you for considering these opportunities,

Dr. Marc Stout

Head of School
