GCS Athletics Update
GCS Families,
With some of the questions having been answered about what school will be like for this fall, the next question many are asking is what about sports this fall. I have recently had a meeting with the NCISAA, our state association, regarding fall sports. Attached you will find a letter from the NCISAA detailing their plan. I have listed below the important highlights you need to know.
1) Fall tryouts will be pushed back until Monday, August 10. (See attached for updated tryout flyer).
2) Winter and Spring teams are in a dead period from July 27 – August 31. Which means no sport-specific activities of any kind.
3) Scrimmages can start on August 24.
4) Regular games can start on August 31.
Note: These dates are subject to change, and are dependent upon NC moving into
Phase 3.
The NCISAA will send out Return-to-Play minimum standards on August 3. This will tell us more about how games will take place for things like; health screening, sport-specific modifications, fan attendance, masks, and more. I will send out another update once I have more information.
In addition, in the past, we have had cheer tryouts in the fall. Due to the current circumstances, we have pushed cheer tryouts to later this school year. More information will be sent out once a date has been set.
Go Eagles,
