Dear Early Childhood & Elementary Families,

At Gaston Christian, it is our joy to provide a quality after-school program as a convenience to serve our hard-working GCS families. As we bring this semester to a close, we wish to inform you of a few changes to improve our after-school program that will be implemented when we return from Christmas break on January 3rd.

Effective January 3rd, our current After-school Director, Mary Abernathy, will be completing her student teaching requirements during her final semester in college. We wish her the very best as she pursues a wonderful teaching career. It is my pleasure to announce that Denika Alston, our elementary principal, will be stepping in as interim After-school Director for the remainder of the school year. With her arrival comes a few restructuring changes to enrich the quality of our after-school program. 

After-School Registration

To accommodate for appropriate staffing to best serve your students, we are asking that all after-school students be registered for our after-school program. You may register on our website, https://gastonchristian.campbrainregistration.com/Home/Landing, or scan the QR code below. Students not registered for the after-school program should be picked up at their designated dismissal time in the car line each day. 

Siblings (5th/MS/HS)

Students with a sibling in 5th grade may be picked up by their 5th-grade sibling and dismissed to parents in the 5th-grade car line at 3:00 pm. For your convenience, parents with a Middle School or High School student as well as an Elementary sibling (PS-4th), they may form a line in front of the Elementary building at 3:05 pm and your Elementary student will be brought out to you as a courtesy to pick up all your students in one location at dismissal. Parents picking up at 3:05 pm with 5th grade, Middle School, or High School siblings will not need to register as after-school school students.

After-School Pick-Up Location Change

For the safety and security of our students, all registered after-school students, Preschool-5th grade should be picked up from the Early Childhood Office beginning at 3:30 pm. There will be signs directing you where to pick-up for your convenience. Students will no longer be released from the playground, the cafeteria, or the preschool side doors at any time. 

Late Parent Pick-Up

For parents who are running late for their child’s scheduled dismissal car-line, students will no longer be sent to after-school. Students will wait in the Early Childhood Office until their parents arrive. For the safety of your child, you may be asked to show ID when picking up from the office. 

All of these changes will be implemented on January 3rd. We appreciate your partnership as we are establishing a stronger after-school program for your students to exceptionally thrive. Please remember to register by December 15th to secure your child in after-school this January.
