21st annual Community Foundation RUN
The Gaston Community Foundation is hosting its 21st annual Community Foundation RUN on April 1, 2023, at 9:00 AM at CarolMont Health Park in the FUSE District. As a participating nonprofit agency, this is a great way for Gaston Christian School to raise funds by asking donors to give to the RUN through the Community Foundation and your donation will be matched by the Foundation.
One hundred percent of the funds received from the Foundation will go directly to support our new STEM project.
The funds will help us to repurpose our three lunch rooms into STEM labs, which also requires a significant investment in hardware and software equipment to fully equip the labs appropriately. Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is the program we are adopting for the STEM labs which provides many of the curriculum materials necessary to deliver an excellent program for our students.
The STEM labs create a unique, extended learning experience by promoting collaboration and exploratory learning. Students will enjoy hands-on learning activities that allow them to apply science, technology, engineering and math skills.
STEM education provides the following benefits to students:
- Encourages ingenuity & creativity
- Promotes teamwork & collaboration
- Builds resilience
- Provides new opportunities & skill sets
- Encourages experimentation
- Improves critical thinking skills
In the past, Gaston Christian School has received a match of up to 40% of the donations. So for example, a $1,000 gift would result in a $1,400 donation to the school. This is an excellent way to boost your support of GCS!
To participate, you simply complete the donor form (link here) and list Gaston Christian School as your charity of choice and indicate your donation amount. Once the Foundation receives the funds, they distribute the contributions, with the match, to the nonprofits. Donations must be received on or before April 10, 2023 to qualify for the matched giving. We hope you will consider supporting GCS through this community event and help us raise funds for new STEM labs, materials and equipment. We promise to be good stewards of your donations.
As always, feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate your support!
Joyfully,
