Letter from School Nurse

Letter from School Nurse

February 2, 2018

Dear GCS Family,

As most of you are aware, we were seeing students with signs and symptoms of the flu here at school. We also have had students with confirmed flu diagnoses. In order to prevent the spread of flu and other illnesses, I am asking that you do the following:

  • I would ask that you review the CDC information regarding the flu ( In addition, I would remind you that any student who has signs and symptoms of the flu should stay home. This includes fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater), cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, and feeling very tired. Some people may also vomit or have diarrhea, especially children.
  • If your child complains of feeling unwell, please consider keeping them home until you are sure they are okay.
  • Please keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever or signs of illness, without using fever-reducing medications. Keeping children with a fever at home will reduce the number of people who may get infected.

Please join us in making this a cooperative effort to avoid the spread of sickness. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
