We are excited and thankful

May 21, 2018

Dear GCS Families:

We are almost there: only four more days of school!

As excited as the students are to almost be at the finish line of another school year, I have also been reminded these last few days of the many answers to prayer that we have seen this year as the Lord continues to bless the ministry of Gaston Christian School.

One of the most visible answers has been progress being made in the construction of the M.O. Owens Jr. Worship and Fine Arts Center. From the initial site plan for the campus since the early 2000s, this final capital project on campus has a projected finish date of August 1.

We are excited and thankful.

As you make the turn on campus each day this week, please offer a prayer for the safety of the workers who are diligently hanging sheetrock and tending to the other details associated with this phase of construction.

I would also like to ask you to set aside time during your family’s devotional time and your own personal quiet time on Wednesday, May 23, to prayerfully consider how the Lord might be leading families to make a financial investment in the future of GCS through a tax-deductible donation or pledge to this project.

If your family has already made a gift, thank you and please keep praying for the continued provision of God’s blessing for this project that is going to mean so much to our school and community.

If your family has not yet made a donation, thank you in advance for taking this time on Wednesday to seek the Lord’s direction in giving. Regardless of the amount of the gift, the Lord will bless your faithfulness to respond as He leads.

With a grateful heart,

Marc Stout

GCS Head of School

PS from the Prayer Committee: Trust in the Scriptures to guide you in praying and responding to the call to participate in this opportunity to praise and thank God for His ongoing blessings in your life and the life of Gaston Christian School.

Isaiah 33:6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to the treasure from Him.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Proverbs 3:6 …in all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.

Matthew 6:20 …store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…

Chromebook Turn-In procedures

Chromebook Turn-In procedures

Students,
Summer break is just around the corner which means it is Chromebook turn in time once again!  This year, we will be using a self-check-in procedure.  Below is a link to the form that is REQUIRED BEFORE you turn in your Chromebook.  You will be required to sign in with your @gastonchristian.org email address and answer a few short questions.  Once this is done, you can turn in your Chromebook AND charger. Please do so at the High School Media Center service counter to either Mrs. Barton or Mr. Jordan no later than the end of your final exam. Students will turn in no later than the end of exams on May 24th. Please note that your Chromebook must be free of all stickers or identifying marks not created by GCS as required in the Student Technology Handbook.
In the event you do not turn in your device by the required date, we will notify the student and his or her parents via email. As explained in school policy, final report cards and transcripts may be held in the event there is an outstanding balance on your account. All returning students will receive Chromebook pickup dates and information in late July for the 2018-2019 school year.
Please fill out the form in the link below by logging in with your Gaston Christian email address if requested.
Children Books Needed

Children Books Needed

Kristina Vaher, a Junior at GCS and coordinator of our Book Club,  has been working on setting up children’s reading libraries in locations throughout Gaston County for children to have access to books over the summer and after school. She just finished working on the Pharr YMCA this Saturday.

She has just recently been talking to the Boys and Girls clubs and they would also like to have one of the children’s libraries at their facilities. Since this would be five locations, and she puts about 700 books in each location, she needs to collect some more books and that’s where you come in.

We are asking parents if you have any gently used children’s books at home if you would like to donate them to this wonderful cause.

We will have plastic bins in the Elementary Lobby of the school to collect the books.

Attached is a picture so you can see what she is creating in our community and what you can be part of.

Thanks so much!
